In Hawaii, for the first time in many years, a siren will sound, warning of a rocket attack.

Starting in December 1, an alarm that has not been used since the Cold War will be activated every month. ABC News.

In addition, the signal will be used to alert you to the arrival of a tsunami or hurricane.

Instructions are also given to the inhabitants of the islands on how to act if the siren is activated due to a real attack.

People are advised to develop a rescue plan, find places to shelter in advance, and prepare a supply of water and food for a couple of days. Ideally, island residents are offered to pack an “emergency suitcase” - essential items in case of an emergency that will help them survive on their own for 2-3 days.

The head of the Emergency Situations Agency of Hawaii, Vern Miyagi, told reporters that this was due to the threat of North Korea attacking the United States.

“Hawaii is the most likely target because it is closer to North Korea than the mainland U.S.,” Miyagi said.

Although, in his opinion, such a development is unlikely.

According to expert estimates, the DPRK nuclear missile will reach Hawaii in just 20 minutes. Of these, about 5 minutes will go to the definition of the trajectory of its movement, so the alert and rescue of almost one and a half million inhabitants of the island will only 15 minutes.
