A powerful tornado in Kansas destroyed several houses and demolished cars

Officials said the tornado raged over Wichita and Andover on the evening of April 29. Andover Fire Chief Chad Russell said between 50 and 100 buildings were damaged in Sedgwick County. It is not known how many were damaged in all of Andover.

Experts noted that assessments of the situation are ongoing, and aircraft, as well as drones, have been deployed to inspect the damage. They urged people who volunteered to help stay away from the area due to downed power lines.

Russell said that although it is known exactly how many buildings were damaged, more than 900 buildings were in the path of the tornado.

According to him, some areas were "so damaged that the houses were completely destroyed by the wind." He named areas that suffered "very severe damage".
As Russell said, the mayor's office also suffered damage, which prevented work. Prairie Creek Elementary School was reportedly among other damaged buildings.
