Dummy clinic in Brooklyn earned $ 1 million on trekkers

In Brooklyn, a clinic owner, a doctor and a Russian-speaking lawyer who created a fictitious clinic as part of a fraudulent insurance scheme were arrested - the group fraudulently earned $1 million.

The indictment on the 61 clause includes accusations of insurance fraud, theft on particularly large scale, unauthorized medical practice and money laundering, said in an official statement on the website New York State Attorney General Barbara Underwood.

48-year-old David Saphir from Brooklyn, 78-year-old Alexander Haselkorn and 61-year-old Roberta Haselkorn from Franklin-Lakes, New Jersey, 63-year-old lawyer Nadezhda Ursulova from Brooklyn and 52-year-old Theron Greennage, also known as Timothy Timothy, is not Timothyrose. Brooklyn is accused of involvement in fraud with accident insurance after an accident. As a result of the criminal scheme, unsuspecting insurance policy holders were deceived by thousands of dollars.

The investigation revealed that Safir, who was assisted by the co-promoters, illegally registered and managed the Jamaica Wellness Medical PC clinic in Kensington, Brooklyn. The clinic encouraged patients who suffered in road traffic accidents to deliberately falsify and exaggerate the scale of their injuries, and also filed fraudulent claims to insurance companies for treatment provided and prescribed by unlicensed persons.

“The defendants illegally operated a medical clinic and exploited car accident victims to line their pockets,” Attorney General Underwood said.

"We are intolerant of those who are trying to deceive the people of New York and take advantage of our insurance and health care systems, and we will continue to pursue those who violate the law."

In New York State, a person injured in a car accident is automatically covered under the Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance Compensation Law - also known as the "no fault" law. Accident insurance provides coverage for all medical expenses for individuals injured in automobile accidents, up to $50 per person, when such services are deemed medically necessary and provided by a qualified health care provider.

According to the New York State Law, only a medical clinic created and operated by a licensed medical professional can invoice the insurance company for compensation "without fault."

From July 2016 to July 2017, David Safir, who is not a licensed physician, encouraged car accident victims to fabricate or exaggerate their injuries, as Theron Grinage did, posing as an attorney to entice unsuspecting victims.

Lawyer Nadezhda Ursulova helped Safir by taking part in a fictitious transfer of ownership of the clinic from one incapacitated doctor to another. Alexander Haselkorn was the owner of the clinic, recorded in the documents, and did not actually deal with the patients - instead, they were “treated” by his wife, who also does not have the right to do so. Ursulova hid from insurance companies the illegal ownership of Safir and the lack of a license from Alexander Haselkorn.

Between July 2016 and July 2017, Safir and his co-promoters fraudulently received more than 1 million dollars through the work of the clinic. To hide his illegal activities and property, Safir cashed out over 380 thousands of dollars in checks.

If the defendants are accused to the maximum, David Safir may be behind bars for a period from 5 to 15 years. Khaselkornam, Ursulova and Greenage face up to 7 years in prison. Amounts of salaries range from 5 thousand to a million dollars.
