Mother tried to sell her child for $500 in Florida

A Florida woman tried to sell her daughter for $500 to a stranger outside a local store, then abandoned the child and left, reports Dailymail.

Jessica Woods, 33, was hanging out at H&R Block in Palatka on March 5 with her 18-month-old baby. daughter, who then developed a bruise on her face. Woods came to H&R Block because her baby had a soiled diaper. Then an office employee witnessed the mother hit her daughter with her elbow and then spanked her.

The next morning, that employee found Woods sleeping on the outdoor air conditioning unit while the 18-month-old girl slept next to her without a blanket in a shopping cart. The office worker asked the mother if she needed or to kid any help.

Woods demanded money; the woman replied that she would buy everything she needed herself, but would not give cash. Woods was furious.

Later that day, around 14 p.m., the employee said Woods came over to talk to her. She put down the child to the ground. The 18-month-old child began to crawl towards a busy road. The employee took the baby in her arms - and it was at that moment that Woods allegedly offered to sell her daughter for $500.

According to the affidavit, the woman said she would not give her any money. “Damn you,” Woods replied.

When the woman refused to buy the baby, Woods left her child and left. The office employee took the girl to H&R Block and washed her.

Woods never returned. The office worker took the 18-month-old child to the police station and told him about what had happened.

The child was placed in a foster family.

The grieving mother was found on March 7, arrested and taken to the Putnam County Jail. Bail was set at $255.

The court, among other things, prohibited Woods from contacting the child. She faces charges of child abuse, neglect, abandonment and sale of a minor.
