Storm Dorian will gain the strength of a hurricane before the collapse of Florida: what to expect residents

The Dorian tropical storm is expected to turn into a category 2 hurricane before it lands ashore in Florida on Labor Day (September 2). A hurricane of this category is characterized by a wind speed of 96-110 miles per hour.

According to weather forecasts, the storm will increase to the 1 category hurricane by Friday morning and continue to increase to the 2 category by Sunday morning before it hits the east coast of Florida on Monday morning, writes CNN.

On August 27, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that it was time to begin preparations for Dorian.

“Based on the current direction of the Dorian tropical storm, all residents of our state’s east coast should prepare for a strike, including strong winds, heavy rains and floods, — DeSantis said. — Make sure your supplies are ready. For the latest forecast updates, stay tuned to the Florida Division of Emergency Management and local media.”

Dorian is approaching several Caribbean islands right now. There is concern that a tropical storm will reach the strength of category 1 hurricane when it approaches Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic on Wednesday and Thursday, CNN meteorologist Dave Hennen said.

But it can affect not only the Caribbean: by the end of the week, Dorian will move in the direction of the Bahamas and the southeastern parts of the mainland.
