Kiev will host the final of the main club tournament in European football

The capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, will host the final of the Champions League of the 2017/18 season. The match will take place on May 26, 2018 at the Olimpiyskiy stadium in Kyiv, reports official site UEFA

For the first time in history, the decisive match of the main club tournament in European football will take place on the territory of Ukraine.

Earlier, in 2012, the reconstructed Olympic Stadium hosted the final of the European Football Championship, in which Spain defeated Italy with a score of 4:0.

In 1980, Kiev also hosted rendered matches of the Moscow Olympics football tournament.

The decision to grant Olimpiyskiy the right to host the Champions League final was made on Thursday at a meeting of the UEFA executive committee in Athens. The only competitor to the capital of Ukraine, as previously reported, was Madrid.

The final of the current tournament, the group round of which started this week, will be held in the Welsh capital Cardiff at the Millennium Stadium.

At the same UEFA executive committee in Greece, it was decided that the match for the European Super Cup, in which the winner of the Champions League winner of the European League, will be held in 2018 in the Estonian capital Tallinn.
