Canada has declared its readiness to supply Ukraine with lethal weapons
Canadian Defense Minister Jason Kenny said that his country was ready to supply Ukraine with lethal weapons, but would not act without the support of NATO allies.
Canada will create five specialized training missions for the Ukrainian military.
“When it comes to providing lethal weapons, our Prime Minister (Stephen Harper - ed.) says all options are on the table, but we will not act alone. We need consensus on this issue among other countries (NATO) to follow this path together,” he said.
In addition, he said that, in addition to the main mission from 200 of military instructors that Canada will send to Ukraine, five small specialized training missions will be created, which will include military police and air reconnaissance training, medical training, as well as explosive ordnance disposal training devices.
The minister also recalled that last year Canada provided the Ukrainian military with tens of tons of military equipment, including night vision goggles and first-class winter ammunition. He also said that in the future, Canada intends to consider providing non-kinetic equipment to Ukraine.
