How in Georgia give birth to children for Israelis

The surrogacy system for Israelis in Georgia is set up like a real production. Surrogate mothers and future parents are accompanied by a whole team of representatives, managers, lawyers and even caretakers. They are involved at all stages of the process - from preliminary negotiations, luggage transportation and arrangement to signing documents.

Israeli doctors fly to Georgia once every two weeks. They carry out the procedure of artificial insemination, monitor the progress of pregnancy, and then monitor newborn babies. Psychologists work with surrogate mothers, and parents have a whole garage with private drivers who come on call, assistants, nannies, instructors and even a Hebrew-speaking babysitter.

Hebrew in Tbilisi can be heard from all sides. The company owns two apartment buildings in the city center - all of them are occupied, and builders are finishing the preparation of the third building so that there is enough space for everyone. They hang mezuzahs, install telephone cables and connect Israeli TV channels.

Moms put cradles, decorate rooms with soft toys, newly-made fathers change diapers and are busy with joyful troubles associated with the appearance of the long-awaited addition to the family.

Each surrogate mother has her own story, her own reasons for carrying a child for another family. On the one hand, these Georgian women are happy to give the happiness of motherhood to those for whom it is not available in any other way. On the other hand, their difficult financial situation plays an important role - young women, most of them poor, divorced and single mothers, are ready to make their body hostage to this difficult emotionally and physically process. For money, of course.

The community of Israelis in Tbilisi represents all sectors of society. Among the newly minted parents are lawyers, employees, engineers, and teachers. Some have 29 years, others have 55. Childless and with several children. Hundreds of them are not the first time come to Georgia to give birth to a child from a surrogate mother. For some, this is the third baby.

The main reason for resorting to surrogacy is health problems: the impossibility of becoming pregnant, the absence of a uterus or its defect, an oncological disease, or an age that does not allow one to have a child. Sometimes these are parents who have lost a child at a later age.
