Putin also recalled during the “direct line” that Ramzan Kadyrov and his late father Akhmat Kadyrov “fought in the forest” against the Russian military, but then chose to cooperate with Moscow.

According to the Russian President, Ramzan Kadyrov went through “a very difficult internal transformation that came from within.”

“I went through my diplomatic academy in a daily struggle against the worst enemies of Russia, during which I lost my closest and dearest people, friends and comrades. Because of this, my statements are sometimes somewhat emotional, but sincere, coming from the heart,” Kadyrov explained in response to Putin’s words.

Among other things, Vladimir Putin expressed the hope that the heads of regions, including Chechnya, will come to understand that formulating their attitude towards opposition representatives “in extreme ways” will destabilize the political situation in the country, and such statements will not happen in the future.

Kadyrov’s scandalous January post with a video was accompanied by the following entry: “Kasyanov came to Strasbourg to get money for the Russian opposition. Those who don’t understand will understand.”

The video was later removed by the social network Instagram for violating internal requirements and rules for users. However the video is still is available on the verified page of Ramzan Kadyrov in the Russian social network VKontakte.

In March, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing Ramzan Kadyrov as acting head of the Chechen Republic before the election of the head of Chechnya in September 2016. At the same time, while signing the decree, Putin expressed the hope that Kadyrov will take part in the next elections.
