An Israeli has stolen Auschwitz exhibits for its art project six times.

A student at the faculty of arts at an Israeli college stole several items from the Auschwitz Museum in Poland, which she then used for her exhibition. Reports about it the edition "Ediot Ahronot".

Xnumx-year-old Rotem Bides visited the museum at the site of the concentration camp six times and took out the dishes, a metal bolt, glass fragments, earth, and a sign forbidding the removal of the exhibits. All these things she presented as part of her graduation project. The violator herself explained that her art project raises the question of what people will remember when “living examples” that survived the horrors of Auschwitz cease to exist. The grandfather and two grandmothers were female students of this concentration camp.

She added that she was aware of the wrongfulness of her actions, but did not regret what she had done. “I felt that this is what I have to do. Millions of people were killed according to the laws of the morality of one country. And if these are the rules, then I can come [there] and act in accordance with my own rules, ”the girl concluded.

Installation Bides is a white room. Through it is a tube with the blood of a student. In the center of the room there is a table with exhibits from Auschwitz and its personal items - a wooden rabbit, rabbit's paw, glue and other things.

After learning about the theft at the college, Bides' exhibition was closed, and the student was called in for a disciplinary conversation. The museum, for its part, announced its intention to file a lawsuit against the girl, and also expressed the hope that the stolen items would be returned.

Recall that in June 2011, a Polish court sentenced to two years of imprisonment a conditionally 60-year-old head of the Israeli municipality Herzliya Moti Posloshan and his spouse. They stole a spoon and scissors from the museum in Auschwitz.

The Auschwitz-Birkenau (Auschwitz) complex is a concentration camp established on the territory of Poland in 1940 and liberated by the Red Army on January 27 on the 1945. Being the largest Nazi death camp, it has become one of the main symbols of the Holocaust. In the five years of its existence, about 1,4 million people died there, of which 1,1 million are Jews.
