The Italian city arranged the sale of houses for 1 euros

In Italy, Sambuca authorities have announced the sale of historic buildings on 1 euros (a little more than $ 1) for each, reports CNN.

Earlier on the island of Sardinia have already announced such a sale of houses. Buyers were attracted by the fact that they were promised paradise among clean rivers, lakes and mountains.

Like many other small Italian cities, Sambuca suffers from a decline in population. Old people die, and young people prefer to move to big cities.

City officials Sambuca claim that they offer a great deal. This is not a promotional offer to attract attention. The city government actually owns all the houses for sale for 1 euros, so there will be no middlemen in this transaction. This was told by the Deputy Mayor of Sambuca and Tourist Advisor Giuseppe Kachioppo,

But there are several nuances that future home buyers need to know. They will have to repair these buildings at their own expense. It is easy to guess that these old houses require major repairs and significant investments. Houses for sale ranging from 40 to 150 square meters. The cost of repairs can cost no less than 15 thousand euros (about $ 17,2 thousand).

Also, new homeowners will have to pay a deposit in the amount of 5 thousand euro ($ 5,7 thousand) to the city treasury, which will be fully returned to them after the completion of the repair. Thus, an investment of a little more than a dollar actually implies a cash expenditure of at least $ 23 thousand.

But Kachioppo says it’s really worth it, since Sambuca is known as the "City of Splendor" and "Earthly Paradise."

“We are in a nature reserve full of history. Magnificent beaches, forests and mountains surround us. It is a quiet, peaceful and idyllic place to relax, ”he says.

Among the sights of Sambuka can be called the Etna volcano, which is not far to go, ancient ruins, beautiful Arabic architecture, excellent local wines and delicious food. Sambuka was nominated for the competition of the most beautiful cities of Italy in 2016 year.
