Name and phone number on shoes: border guards found a child abandoned by illegal immigrants

Early in the morning, April 23, the border agents found a three-year-old crying baby. In a corn field near the border between the United States and Mexico, the child was alone.

The agents later discovered that the boy’s name and telephone number were written on his shoes. Agents are trying to contact his family.

So far, the efforts have not been successful, so the boy is transferred to the care of health and social services.

Rudi Caris, chief border patrol agent in the Rio Grande Valley, believes the smugglers have left the boy. Karish is confident that the child was with a large group. When the group group came across agents, the adults ran away and left him alone.

In 2018, 15% of unaccompanied children were under the age of 12.
