Trump's immigration decree is recognized as legitimate: who is now denied entry to the US

The US Supreme Court has recognized the immigration decree of US President Donald Trump, which prohibits citizens of six countries with a predominantly Muslim population from entering the country, as legitimate.

Five judges recognized the legal ban, four opposed, writes The New York Times.

The judges ruled that the president’s immigration decree does not violate US law.

The Trump administration has fought for this ban in several courts since its early days. The Supreme Court recognized the third version of this document as legal. The White House thanked the representatives of the Supreme Court and promised to further protect the country from terrorism and extremism.

“This ruling also represents a moment of profound vindication after months of critical commentary from the media and Democratic politicians who refuse to do what is necessary to secure our borders and our country,” the president said shortly after the court's decision.

The ban applies to citizens of Iran, Yemen, Libya, Syria, Somalia and Sudan. They are now forbidden to enter the United States, they will not be able to get a visa to enter the country. The document does not apply to holders of green cards, as well as persons with dual citizenship, one of whom does not prohibit them from entering the States.

Recall, Trump signed an immigration ban at the end of January 2017, but several courts of the first and second instance suspended it. The president responded by introducing a new ban in March 2017, but it was also suspended.

Consideration of the third ban imposed by Trump reached the Supreme Court, which confirmed its legitimacy.
