'Go wherever you want': border guards in California release illegal immigrants immediately upon arrival in the US

Border Patrol agents in San Diego, California, are releasing hundreds of undocumented migrants onto the city's streets as they try to deal with an influx of migrants into the area, after a similar operation began in Arizona. The publication told in more detail Fox News.

Video footage taken in San Diego shows hundreds of illegal immigrants getting off buses. In one video, a migrant talks to a Border Patrol agent who tells him he can now do whatever he wants.

“You are free and can do whatever you want. You are free,” says the agent.

“Is it okay if I go to Chicago?” - asks the illegal immigrant.

“You can do whatever you want,” says the agent.

It comes after days of migrant releases in Arizona's Tucson sector, with agents encountering 2 people a day and images of overcrowded shelters emerging.

Meanwhile, Texas continues to use wire to block migrants trying to enter the state illegally, confronting US President Joe Biden's administration as it tries to stop construction of a buoy barrier on the Rio Grande River.

Overall, more than 7000 illegal crossings have been recorded at the border over several days this week, and when migrants arriving at ports of entry are included, the number rises to more than 9000.

The number of migrants is projected to top 230 in August, marking the sixth month this fiscal year that the number of undocumented immigrants will top 000. Border Patrol officials are tasked with clearing away migrants so they can be processed more quickly, either for transport into the interior of the country or for deportation or removal.

It's another challenging month for overworked border agents, who are now in their third year of dealing with a migrant crisis that has affected not only areas along the border but also those deep in the U.S. interior.

Both New York City (NY) and Chicago (IL) are sounding the alarm that they are unable to cope with the number of migrants arriving in their area. In addition to illegal immigrants who get there on their own, Texas authorities are implementing a program to transport migrants to sanctuary cities.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams recently warned that the crisis threatens to "destroy" the city as more than 110 migrants have arrived since last year.

Republicans in Congress are pushing for Senate passage of the border security legislation that has already passed the House. However, the chances of it being passed by Democrats are slim. The Democrats' reform bill was rejected by Republicans because it included amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants.
