Hail, tornado and forest fires: several US states are faced with severe weather

Several states in the central US were hit by severe weather on June 22, including four tornadoes - two in Kentucky, one in South Dakota and one in Montana.

In Texas, a hail the size of a baseball and gusts of wind to 140 km per hour was observed on Saturday; in Oklahoma, the wind speed reached 115 km per hour, the newspaper writes ABC News.

Thunderstorms and storms several trees were felled in northern Georgia and southern Tennessee, and thousands of people in Memphis were left without electricity. As of the morning of June 24, Oklahoma is still experiencing strong gusts of wind, thunder and rain.

However, according to weather forecasts, this is only the beginning of bad weather in the region. A new storm will begin forming in the central United States on Sunday. It will bring with it heavy rains and winds, as well as the threat of flooding.

By the end of June 24 and in the first half of June 25, most of the Upper Midwest and the Mississippi Valley will face severe thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Meanwhile, a wildfire raging in California, as of June 24 morning fire spread to 1500 acres (about 610 ha), damaged or destroyed about 10 buildings, residents of 700 houses were evacuated.

The fire raged in Lake District, where the temperature of June 24 is projected to reach 42 degrees Celsius. The threat of other fires in California and Nevada remains very high.
