US Secretary of State will be treated in Boston

US Secretary of State John Kerry will return home on Monday after hospitalization due to leg fracture when falling off a bicycle.

On Sunday, Kerry in a stable condition was taken to a hospital in Geneva after he was injured while riding a bicycle in the area of ​​the French city of Sionzier, 40 km from the border with Switzerland.

As State Department spokesman John Kirby reported on Sunday, Kerry planned to return to the US on Sunday evening, but “after further consultations it was decided that it was more reasonable to stay under observation at the hospital for the night, solely as a precaution.” According to Kirby, the Secretary of State is in excellent spirits and continues to work actively. So, he made several calls from the hospital, including to President Obama.

Kerry, who has injured the femur, will undergo further treatment in Boston. As the official representative explained, since the fracture occurred not far from the place that Kerry had recently operated on, he would be treated by the same doctor who performed his hip operation.

Kerry arrived in Switzerland for talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, aimed at reaching a nuclear agreement before the deadline of June 30.

Negotiations did not continue on Sunday, as was originally planned, since Iran rejected the West’s demand for admission of inspections to its nuclear facilities.

From Switzerland, Kerry was supposed to go to negotiations in Spain, and then to Paris for a conference on the struggle against the "Islamic State." According to the representative of the state secretary, he plans to participate in the conference remotely.
