US Department of State Formally Approves Javelin Missile Supply for Ukraine

The US Department of State has officially announced the sale to Ukraine of 150 Javelin rockets and related equipment for an amount not exceeding 39,2 million dollars. Writes about it Voice of America.

The Defense and Security Cooperation Agency handed over the required certification to the U.S. Congress on Thursday, October 3.

The agency said in a statement that the Ukrainian government has made a request for the purchase of 150 Javelin missiles and 10 launchers. The agreement also includes: training devices, transportation, auxiliary equipment, technical data, publications, training, etc.

“This sale will support US foreign policy and national security, as it will improve the security of Ukraine. Javelin systems will help Ukraine build its long-term ability to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity within the framework of its national security requirements. Ukraine will be able to integrate this system into its armed forces without any problems. The sale of this equipment will not change the basic military balance in the region, ”the statement said.

It is also noted that the approval of a potential sale does not mean that the sale has already been completed.
