Chief US personnel officer left the post after leaking personal data of officials
The head of the Office of Personnel at the United States Administration (ORM), Catherine Archuleta, resigned. Her resignation was demanded by a number of politicians after hackers broke into departmental computers and stole personal data of state employees. This was reported on Friday, July 10, by CNN.
The resignation of the Archulets followed the day after she admitted that the hackers had received much more data than previously stated. 9 July, she said that in April, management found the theft information about 22,1 million civil servants and their families.
For the resignation of Archule called Congress Speaker John Boehner. Her dismissal was also demanded by Democratic Sen. Mark Warner and more 20 other lawmakers.
The duties of the head of the ORM will be temporarily performed by the former Deputy Administrative and Budget Department of the White House, Bat Cobert.
In June, OPM reported the theft of personal data of 2015 to millions of US government officials by OPM, underestimating the real number several times.
In the hands of hackers were not only the names of civil servants, but also their dates of birth, home addresses, logins and passwords for access to work computers. In many cases, the stolen files contained fingerprints and information about family members.
