Florida hit the top of the sickest states: America's health card

In America, mortality from infectious diseases is 20% less than it was in 1980, but some states are still more vulnerable than others, according to authors of a study at the University of Washington, writes Daily Mail.

The study concludes that in those parts of the United States where poverty is high and a large percentage of the aging population, there is a high mortality rate for easily treatable diseases.

In addition, mortality from diarrheal infectious diseases, a disease inherent in developing countries, has increased dramatically (by almost 500% compared to 1980 year).

Florida and South Dakota continue to lose population due to diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV and hepatitis.

The authors of the study believe that more affordable health care in poor areas and mass vaccination are key to preventing disease.

The study examined state death rates for diseases such as respiratory infections of the lower respiratory tract, diarrheal diseases, meningitis, tuberculosis, HIV / AIDS and hepatitis.

Although the number of deaths has decreased in comparison with 1980 a year, respiratory infections of the lower respiratory tract are still the most common cause of death. This cause accounts for 80% of deaths from infectious diseases this year.

Researchers believe that such a high rate is due to the fact that in the United States a large percentage of the aging population is more susceptible to this type of infection than other groups of the population.

Diarrheal diseases in 2014 died by 484% more people than in 1980. The highest death rates from this type of disease are recorded in the states of Maine and Missouri, in the counties of New Mexico, California and Arizona.

In 2013, US authorities allocated $ 46,3 billion for prevention of respiratory infections and diarrheal diseases.

It is noted that people with weak or weakened immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and people with HIV / AIDS, are susceptible to diarrheal diseases.

It is noted that mortality from HIV / AIDS first grew in the rich counties of the West Coast, and then the peak moved to the poorest counties in the southeastern part of the United States.

Researchers believe that this was due to the fact that residents of rich states can afford to undergo the necessary treatment.

Of HIV / AIDS in 2014, most people died in Union County, Florida. In the same district, a high rate of death from hepatitis was recorded.

At the same time, mortality from hepatitis to 2014 decreased, compared with 1983 and 2000 years.

It is noted that residents of poor areas of the United States are most susceptible to hepatitis and tuberculosis. Tuberculosis death rates were highest in Oglala Lakota County, South Dakota.

Researchers believe that authorities need to focus on developing a health strategy and strengthening disease prevention measures, as well as making health care more accessible throughout the United States.
