FIFA sues comedian for "bribing Blatter"
The International Football Federation (FIFA) filed a lawsuit against the British comedian Simon Brodkin, who broke the press conference of Joseph Blatter, leaving the banknotes at the head of the federation.
The incident occurred at the beginning press conferences. Brodkin, who goes by the pseudonym Lee Nelson, walked up to the table where Blatter was sitting and threw a wad of dollar bills on the table, saying it was “for the 2026 World Cup in North Korea.” As the comedian was led away by security, he threw another wad of money into the air.
FIFA filed a lawsuit against Brodkin, accusing the comedian of illegal entry to the event. The Swiss prosecutor's office in the near future should decide on the adoption of the claim for legal proceedings.
Brodkin is known for his jokes in the sports world. So in 2014, the comedian tried to board the England football team's plane heading to Miami, but the police at Luton Airport prevented this. In 2013, Brodkin's attempt to mingle with Manchester City players during the warm-up in Liverpool before a match against Everton ended in arrest.
