The European Parliament supported a visa-free regime for Ukraine and Georgia

The European Parliament calls on the governing institutions of the European Union to continue the legislative procedure for including Ukraine in the list of countries for which citizens are waiving visa requirements.

This is stated in the resolution adopted on Thursday by the European Parliament concerning association agreements, including in-depth and comprehensive free trade zones, with Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.

“The European Parliament positively assesses the efforts of the Ukrainian leadership in implementing the visa liberalization action plan and congratulates them on the publication of the positive final report on progress in the implementation of this plan,” the resolution says.

The deputies expressed the hope that the Ukrainian leadership will fulfill all the obligations regarding the fight against corruption in the first quarter of 2016, and the Council of the European Union and the member countries will continue as soon as possible the procedure of granting visa-free travel to Ukraine and Georgia.

ForumDaily previously reported that the heads of EU foreign ministries will consider the issue of granting visa-free regime to Ukraine in March or June, depending on the speed of implementation of the necessary reforms for this.
