Trump promised to extend the status of certain categories of migrants in the United States in exchange for funds to build a wall on the border with Mexico.

As noted, Trump is confident that the wall will be able to protect the United States from illegal immigrants and drugs.

“It is necessary to close part of the border. This will significantly reduce the flow of drugs into the country, according to some estimates by half,” Trump said

“Steel barriers will help us stop illegal immigration. Many of these measures were previously supported by democrats, ”the president recalled.

The main theses of the speech were:

- To postpone the expulsion of the so-called "dreamers" for three years - people who are literally threatened with deportation may remain in the United States during this time;

- Allow "dreamers" to get a job;

- To allocate $ 800 million for humanitarian purposes related to the support of immigrants;

- To allocate $ 850 million to combat the problems associated with drug trafficking and drug use.

If the government works, Trump concluded, and his proposals will be accepted, then the US president suggests holding regular meetings with Democrats to solve immigration problems.

Earlier, the media reported that Democrats will not make concessions to Trump.
