Two Americans found dead in luxury hotel in Mexico

On June 13, two Americans were found dead in a luxury hotel room in Baja California, Mexico. Writes about it New York Post.

The bodies of the man and woman were found by paramedics and police around 21:00 pm, local authorities said.

The victims were John Heetko, 41, and Abby Lutz, 28, according to the Baja California Attorney General's Office. ABC News.

Police said first responders entered a hotel room located in the seaside village of El Pescadero when they received a report that Americans had been found there with no signs of life.

As a result of the examination, they were declared dead at the scene.

The presumed cause of death was gas poisoning. In recent years, similar incidents have occurred to other Americans in Mexico.

Prosecutors said the man and woman had been dead for about 10 or 11 hours when they were found. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, there were no signs of violence on their bodies.

The tragedy happened at the Rancho Pescadero, a luxury hotel owned by Hyatt.

“We can confirm the death of two US citizens in Baja California on June 14th. We express our sincere condolences to the families for their loss,” said a US State Department spokesman. “We are closely monitoring the local authorities’ investigation into the causes of death and are ready to provide all necessary consular assistance.” Out of respect for the privacy of the families, we have nothing further to add at this time.”

“We are truly heartbroken by this terrible tragedy,” said Henard Gil, general manager of Rancho Pescadero. “Our hearts are with the affected families and their loved ones. Local authorities are actively investigating the situation. The safety of our guests and colleagues remains our top priority, as always.”

No more information about the victims was received.

Last October, three Americans were found dead in a rented apartment in Mexico, apparently from gas poisoning.

And in 2018, a gas leak in a water heater at a Tulum resort killed an American couple and their two children.
