USA will issue 30 thousand more H-2B work visas in 2019
The number of H-2B visas in the 2019 fiscal year increased by 30 thousands. The Department of Homeland Security clarified the restrictions and priorities that will apply when they are issued.
6 May Acting National Security Secretary Kevin McAlinan announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Labor (DOL) further added 30 thousands of H-2B temporary work visas that are not related to agriculture in the 2019 fiscal year.
Additional H-2B visas are available only to returning workers who have already received H-2B visas or otherwise received H-2B status during one of the last three financial years (2016, 2017 or 2018 financial years). Visa availability is limited. Priority is given only to those enterprises that would suffer irreparable damage without additional workers.

H-2B returnees have demonstrated their ability to comply with the terms of the H-2B program and are therefore less likely to remain in the United States or work without permission after their legal status expires. H-2B employees often return to the same employer from year to year to season. They are tested and trusted. Visas they can be approved faster, given their history.
“The Department of Homeland Security continues to urge legislators to pursue a long-term legislative solution that meets the temporary needs of employers while implementing the President's Buy American and Hire American order to encourage higher wages and employment levels for American workers,” said Acting Secretary McAleenan.

H-2B visas are issued to qualified and unqualified citizens of foreign countries who come to the United States for temporary work.
Currently, Congress has set the H-2B visa limit on 66 000 for one fiscal year: 33 000 - for employees who start work in the first half of the fiscal year (from October 1 to March 31) and 33 000 for employees who Begin operations in the second half of the fiscal year (from April 1 to September 30).
