Cheap and effective: Ukrainian developed reconnaissance drones with artificial intelligence

Drone developer from Kharkov (Ukraine) Mikhail Dronov is preparing to launch the production of the cheapest drones. Read more about the innovation told the publication building tech.

Dronov says that it will be possible to cover a vast territory with drones and receive information from them 24/7. To process it, he plans to use artificial intelligence.

Dronov graduated from the Kharkov Aviation Institute, which graduates specialists in the development and production of aviation and space technology.

In his younger years, he was a world champion in aircraft modeling, even designed his own aircraft. Now Mikhail is organizing his own production of drones in Ukraine based on the A1-SM Fury UAV with a wingspan of 2 meters and an autonomous flight time of up to 2,5 hours.

The mission of the new low-cost unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be reconnaissance, which they will begin to produce almost continuously, provided that thousands of UAVs cruise in succession.

“One part of the drones flies, performing the operator’s tasks, while the next part is being prepared for flight,” explains Dronov. It is planned that all drones will be combined into one network, and the received data will be processed using artificial intelligence and neural networks.

The developer says that he has already received a preliminary agreement on the supply of equipment, which will begin to produce drone bodies.

Electronics, batteries and other elements will be partially purchased in the USA and China, and partially produced in Ukraine.

Among the advantages of SkyNet drones, Mikhail Dronov calls their low cost, as well as easy and fast manufacturing.

“Well, they will shoot down 10 UAVs, and tomorrow we will make another 50,” he says.

But at the same time, the developer notes that the minimum cost of such a drone is within $1000. It will increase depending on the functionality and additional elements.
