Sergey Dorenko was born in 1959 year in Kerch. His father served in military aviation, and his mother worked as a librarian. “I am a man who grew up in garrisons. But he finally had to quit television after the release of Sergey Dorenko’s Author Program on ORT in 2000. Then he blamed the authorities for the incident with the Kursk submarine. Later he said that on the eve of the air, he had a choice whether to release this program in the formulation “yes or yes”.

Dorenko in 1990 was also a military journalist, he traveled to Chechnya and did not hide the fact that he supports the tough scenario of conflict resolution.

In 2000, Sergey Dorenko was actively working on radio. He collaborated with Echo of Moscow, later became the head of Russian News Service, and has now led the Moscow Talking Station, founded in 2014. To radio listeners, he was remembered not only by his firm sharp manner of statements, but also by his characteristic heavy intonations.

Sergey Dorenko was married twice; he has four daughters and a son from these marriages. At the same time, in an interview he said that he was “not a child-lover”

Dorenko also released the novel "2008", actively engaged in online journalism, launching his YouTube channel "Rasstrig". He liked to say that, despite his profession, he prefers not to watch TV:

“I haven't watched TV all my life. Except for those periods when he was the head of the First Channel information service. He wrote remarks that at such and such a second it was not so that later he would arrange a flogging on the fly. But I have never revised or re-listened to my programs. I hate myself.
