Czech Republic and Slovakia angered Russian documentary
The Czech Republic and Slovakia was outraged by the Russian documentary Warsaw Pact, shown on Russia 1, about the invasion of Soviet troops in Czechoslovakia in the year 1968.
A spokesman for the Slovak Foreign Ministry, Peter Stano, was puzzled by the appearance of the film on the Russian state television channel.
“The documentary film on the military invasion and the subsequent 20-year Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia used inaccurate and old ideological clichés, from which Russian officials gradually distanced themselves in the recent past, who later apologized for the invasion and occupation,” said Stano.
In addition, Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek summoned Russia's ambassador to the republic, Sergei Kiselev, to explain the origin of the film, which “misleads the audience.”
