A private company in the United States was first allowed to go to the moon

The American company Moon Express received the opportunity to become the first private company that sent its spacecraft to the moon. On Wednesday, the US government approved a draft mission based in Florida.
“Only three superpowers have landed on any planet - we will become the fourth superpower,” promised company co-founder Naveen Jain, who hopes to land as early as 2017.
As ForumDaily wrote, the Moon Express team is currently competing with the Israeli SpaceIL in the fight for the main prize of the Google Lunar XPRIZE contest. To win the competition, you must be the first among its participants to go to the moon on a small moon rover of its own production.
The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of $ 20 million, and the team that will fly the second will receive $ 5 million. Under the terms of the competition, the device must also drive at least 500 meters across the lunar surface and transfer the high quality video back to Earth.
This is the first time US regulators have given approval for a private mission beyond Earth orbit. Before that, commercial companies mostly launched satellites, and all specialized private missions—such as delivering cargo to the space station—were controlled by NASA.
At the same time, as noted, US law was not ready for the company's project, and the permission for Moon Express is still individual. However, US politicians are already actively working on bills regulating such missions.
SpaceX company Ilona Mask has already announced plans to send a spacecraft to Mars in 2018, and Bigelow Aerospace wants to launch a project of space hotels by 2020.
