On Monday, a lunar eclipse coincided with the so-called super-life.

The moon rotates around the Earth in a slightly elongated, elliptical orbit and at the time of the eclipse will be in perigee - the point closest to the Earth. As a result, it looks much larger than usual.

The lunar eclipse, during which the moon acquired a reddish hue, was visible in North and South America, West Africa and Western Europe.

NASA states that the last time a lunar eclipse coincided with a super-life in 1982. Next time it will happen in 2033.

In the western part of North America, in the east of Europe and in the rest of the Middle East and South Asia, only a partial lunar eclipse could be seen.

In Western Europe, the eclipse began shortly after midnight GMT. In North and South America it was visible on Sunday evening local time.

The beginning of the partial lunar eclipse in Moscow fell on the 4 hours of 06 minutes, Moscow time.

Since the moon was at the closest point to Earth, it looked at 7-8% more than usual.

"Blood Moon"

The moon also took on a reddish color, which is why the supermoon is also called a “blood moon.”

This is due to the fact that, even being completely closed from direct sunlight by the Earth, the Moon continues to be poorly illuminated by light passing along a tangent to the earth's surface in the atmosphere of our planet.

Since the atmosphere of the Earth best of all passes the red-orange part of the spectrum, the surface of the moon acquires a reddish tint.

During the eclipse, the moon covered the constellation Pisces.

During a total lunar eclipse, the Sun, the Earth and the Moon are on the same line, and the Earth obstructs the Moon from the Sun.

From the Earth at this moment the Moon seems reddish or brick-colored. Depending on the weather conditions on Earth, it can also be blood-colored or dark gray.

During this year's eclipse, the Moon was only 357877 kilometers from Earth.

The eclipse began immediately after midnight - at 00: GMT on 11, and the Moon became yellowish at that moment. A total eclipse occurred in 02: 47 GMT. It will end in 05: 22.

Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse can be observed with the naked eye, as it does not pose any danger to vision.
