Most Republicans believe Donald Trump remains the legitimate President of the United States and his 2020 election victory overshadowed dishonest voting. This is evidenced by a new poll by Reuters-Ipsos, writes "Voice of America".

According to the study, 53% of Republicans believe Trump is the “real president” despite the fact that he lost to Biden last year by almost 7 million votes in the absolute vote count and in the Electoral College, and 61% believe that the previous head of the White House has the election were stolen".

Donald Trump has been voicing an opinion about this that is not supported by facts to his supporters since Election Day. He greeted the survey results with the words: “I always knew America was smart!”

Such results indicate the continued support of Trump's conservative voter base and the politician's influence on them, The Hill notes. At the same time, The Guardian recalls that the 45th US president and his supporters continue to “promote baseless conspiracy theories in conservative publications” despite the fact that dozens of US courts have rejected the Trump team’s claims regarding election fraud.

“U.S. courts at the federal and local levels have consistently said they have no evidence that voting was compromised or rigged during the presidential election, rejecting the baseless claims of widespread fraud promoted by Trump and his supporters,” the newspaper writes.

At the same time, six months after the elections in November, through the efforts of the Trump team and some conservative politicians, the courts of some states decide to recount some of the votes. In particular, as AP writes, we are talking about individual districts of Georgia, New Hampshire, Arizona, and Michigan. But these transfers are “unlikely to change” the election results, because “all the votes have already been counted, and in some places recounted.” But, as the agency writes, such recalculations are designed to stir up and mobilize the Republican electorate.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll polled more than 2000 American adults and had a margin of error of 3,7 percentage points for those surveyed who identify as Democrats, 4,1 percentage points for Republicans and 8 percentage points for “independents” who do not identify as in two batches.
