Iowa fan asked for money for a beer and accidentally raised $ 1 million for sick children
In the USA, a football fan raised a million dollars for a children's hospital. This happened almost by accident - in fact, he just wanted to get a few tens of dollars for a beer.
24-year-old Carson King on 14 September came to the NCAA Student League match between the Iowa Hawkes and Iowa State Cyclones teams with a banner that read: "[My] Busch Light [beer] supplies need replenishment." There, King indicated his account in the Venmo payment system, writes Medusa.
The game was shown by the largest American sports channel ESPN. Before the match on the channel, the show “College GameDay” was broadcast, during which the presenters made inclusion from the stadium. King got into one of them with his banner - it was shown for a long time across the country in a crowd of other fans.
King did not know that he was shown on national television, and was surprised when after half an hour the amount of donations exceeded 400 dollars. According to him, when "hundreds began to turn into thousands," he realized that he could do "something more special than buying beer." He consulted with his family and decided to transfer the money to a local hospital, which is sponsored by the University of Iowa.

A few days later they learned about the action in the Venmo payment system and in the beer company producing Busch Light. Both organizations promised that for their part, each of them would transfer to the hospital the same amount that King would collect.
22 September, King said that the total amount collected exceeded one million dollars, and noted that he would continue to raise money until the end of the month. After that, he will personally come to the hospital to hand in a check and chat with the children. The fan decided that he would still keep 15 dollars out of the collected amount - so that he could buy a package of beer on them.
