American psychologists helped the security services with a torture program
The best American psychologists collaborated with the special services, helping them develop effective torture programs during interrogations. This became known after an independent investigation by lawyer David Hoffman. He was hired by the American Psychological Association. The result was a report on 542 pages.
It turned out that after the September 11 attacks, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the US Department of Defense and the George W. Bush administration secretly offered cooperation to the best American psychologists. They developed torture that was effective, but could not seriously affect the health of the detainees. One such torture was the deprivation of suspected sleep.
The American Psychological Association in the person of Dr. Nadine Caslow has already apologized to the public for working with the security services in the area of torture.
