Americans spend more on taxes than on food and clothing

The average American pays $10 in federal, state and local taxes per year, including $489 in food and clothing, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' 9 Consumer Expenditures report.
Since 2013, the average tax amount has increased by 41%. According to BLS, federal income tax increased from $ 5 743 to $ 8 367 in this period. State and local income taxes increased from $ 1 629 to $ 2 046.
Note that President Donald Trump intends to put pressure on Congress to accept tax reform. The president wants to reduce tax pressure.
According to BLS, the Americans spent the most money on “housing” in 2016. The average consumer spent $ 18 886 on a house for the year.
