Americans face prison for a photo with their pants down against a Buddhist temple

In Thailand, two American tourists from San Diego, spouses 38-year-old Joseph and 36-year-old Travis Dasilwa face from 5 to 7 years in prison for a photo with bare buttocks against the background of Wat Arun in Bangkok.
According to Bangkok Post, men have already paid 5 thousand baht (about $ 150) fine. They are also threatened with blacklisting individuals for entry into the country for the rest of their lives. Currently they are kept in the migration center in Bangkok.
It is known that men kept their blog in Instagram “Traveling Asses” on the network, which contained such explicit photographs, these photos were also posted there; after the incident, the page was deleted. The page had 14 thousand subscribers.
29 November has become known about the detention of tourists. The head of the police station, Paul Kol Yapurat Tongkomol, said that both foreigners confessed to the crime. He added that the police will advocate for more severe punishment, because the Americans have published on the Internet pictures near the sacred place.
According to Thai law, for the publication of pornographic photos face up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to 100 thousand baht. Violations related to religious insults are punishable by a term from one year to 7 years, as well as a fine of 20-40 thousand baht.
The publication of the Air Force, with reference to the representative of the immigration police, Cola Chuengron Rimpadi, reported that the Americans were being deported. Rimpadi added that after paying the fine, their visas would be withdrawn and they would not be allowed to return to Thailand.
