Rudy Giuliani became a member of the popular singing show and made a splash in the first episode

Rudy Giuliani, whose decades-long career included being mayor of New York City and personal lawyer to the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, has found his next, albeit temporary, job as a masked singer. Writes about it Business Insider.

Giuliani is a contestant on the upcoming season of Fox's primetime show The Masked Singer. The theme of the yet-to-air season is “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.”

The singing competition series features celebrities dressed in elaborate head-to-toe costumes that conceal their identities as they perform songs for a live audience and a panel of judges that also consists of famous faces. Using clues, panelists try to guess the identity of each performer, and the audience votes for their favorite singer. The least popular contestant is eliminated in each episode by removing his mask and revealing his identity.

Giuliani left the project already in the first episode of the upcoming season.

According to the outlet, the two celebrity judges, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke, immediately left the stage in protest after Giuliani revealed his identity. Two others, Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger, stayed on stage to chat with Giuliani.

Giuliani's supposed appearance isn't the first time a Republican politician has taken the stage on The Masked Singer. In March 2020, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin appeared before judges as a bear.

The seventh season of The Masked Singer will premiere on March 9, 2022. It is expected that Giuliani will appear in it for the first and last time.

Giuliani gained national attention for fighting organized crime as Manhattan's U.S. Attorney General, then as Mayor of New York, and most recently as Trump's personal attorney.

But his fortunes changed when it was revealed he was at the center of a federal criminal investigation, spearheaded by the U.S. Attorney's Office, which he once headed, over whether he violated foreign lobbying laws.

Giuliani also played a major role in Trump's campaign to pressure the Ukrainian government into politically motivated investigations against the Bidens, which eventually led to Trump's first impeachment. Giuliani's involvement in Trump's efforts was so intense that the FBI later found out he was being used by the Russian government as a tool to spread disinformation about Ukraine ahead of the 2020 elections.

When Trump lost the 2020 election, Giuliani led his failed legal campaign to overturn the election results. In addition to spreading conspiracy theories about widespread electoral fraud, Giuliani accused several electoral contestants of conspiring to tilt the race in favor of incumbent US President Joe Biden. He has since been suspended from practicing law in New York and Washington, DC, and facing libel suits from Dominion and Smartmatic.
