How the acquittal case justified Trump’s reelection
Noticeable shifts have taken place in the US political landscape this week: deep divisions have affected all sectors of society. US President Donald Trump finally won a triumph in the battle around impeachment, his ratings are growing, and the Democratic Party is in a chaotic state after a major setback in Iowa, writes "Voice of America".
In just a few days, Trump’s chances of being reelected were higher than his entire presidency.
Trump criticized the process of impeachment initiated by the Democrats as "malicious and corrupt."
“They brought me to the final stage of impeachment,” he said with loud applause at a ceremony at the White House. “But now we hear that beautiful word.” I never thought that a word could sound so nice. This is called complete excuse. Full excuse! ”

Trump's justification was a blow to the Democrats, including their Senate leader Chuck Schumer.
“You cannot be on the side of this president and at the same time on the side of truth. And so that we as a nation can survive, we need to choose the truth, ”said Schumer.
Many analysts believe that in the short term, Trump's justification can give him political incentive.
“Without a doubt, this will help motivate his electoral base,” said Allan Lichtman, American University historian. “They will believe that it was a party witch hunt designed to remove their president.”
By the time impeachment reached its final stage, Trump's positive rating from the Gallup poll rose to a record 49 percent. 50 percent of respondents negatively assess the president, 1 percent - do not have a clear opinion.
Probably the main reason for the rating increase is the confident state of the American economy. According to Gallup, Trump's economic policies are approved by 63 percent of the population.
Historically, presidents nominated for re-election with a good economy have won.
As John Fortier of the Center for Bipartisan Politics in Washington notes, as the election race picks up pace, Trump should take advantage of the political benefits of a healthy economy.
“At this stage, the impression is that the competition will be fierce,” the expert says. “The president still needs to tighten his ratings a bit to be competitive, but he is not so far from that, and he has some other strengths.”

Although in the short term the outcome of the impeachment trial is unfavorable for the Democrats, Lichtman believes that this could increase turnout in November.
“Democrats are angry, they are on the platoon and are ready to say: so you say, the right way is elections? We will use this tool and get rid of Donald Trump, ”he said.
Jim Kessler from the center-left organization “The Third Way” summarizes: “What we have learned so far: there is a split in the nation, the president is contributing to this, the media are divided into two camps, and it is through this prism that voters will look at the situation.”
