Died Soviet intelligence, prevented an attempt on Roosevelt

Gohar Vartanyan, Soviet intelligence spy, died. Together with her husband, she thwarted an attempt on Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill.

Soviet intelligence agent Gohar Vartanyan died on November 25 at the age of 93 years, writes Medusa.

Gohar Vartanyan was born in 1926 in Armenia. In the 1930s, her family moved to Iran. At the age of 16, she joined the anti-fascist group of her future husband Gevork Vartanyan (pseudonym “Amir”).

The wedding of Gevorg and Gohar Vardanyan played in 1946, in Tehran. They never parted.

According to Sputnik Armenia, during the Tehran Conference of 1943, the Vartanyans thwarted German intelligence plans to eliminate the leaders of the Allied powers - Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill. The most difficult game was won brilliantly by the head of the Main Directorate of Reich Security Kaltenbrunner and the head of military intelligence (Abwehr) Admiral Canaris, and from the SS personnel the operation “Big Leap” was led by Otto Skorzeny, who became famous after the rescue of Mussolini. And Gevork Vartanyan later became the prototype of the hero of the film “Tehran-43”.

For a long time, the Vartanyans worked in Italy, watching the southern wing of NATO. In Rome, they achieved a high position in society, acquired important and influential ties, and made personal acquaintance with the Italian president and a number of ministers. They had an excellent relationship with prominent US naval officers and future CIA director Admiral Turner.

This “foreign trip” lasted more than four decades; they returned home only in 1986. Gohar Levonovna turned 60 then.

The “top secret” stamp, and even then not completely, was removed from the spouses in 1999, but in 1984 Gevork Andreevich was given the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and Goar Levonovna was awarded the Order of the Red Banner. “Amir” became the first Soviet illegal intelligence officer to receive a Hero for his work in peacetime.

Gevorg Vartanyan said then that the star of the Hero equally belongs to Gohar, it is one star for two. The Scout died on 10 on January 2012 of the year.

In 2014 year RIA News asked Gohar Vartanyan to recall some unusual or curious case from her illegal life.

“This happened in one of the foreign countries where Gevork and I arrived on a long business trip,” Vartanyan said. “We were just starting to settle down there.” One day I decided to go to the hairdresser and get my hair done.

At the hairdresser they put curlers on me and sat me under the hair dryer to dry my hair. Then the hairdryer looked like a big iron cap that covered half of my head. At this time, Gevork was waiting for me on the street. At some point I saw him through a large glass display case. I don’t know what came over me, but I suddenly, involuntarily, waving my hand, shouted to him in Russian: “Zhora, I’m finishing soon!” Can you imagine my shock after that! For a minute I sat simply petrified, with one thought about what I had done. Then she carefully began to look around for the reactions of the people in the hairdresser.

Thank God, no one noticed my mistake in this fuss and everything worked out. A scout must always keep himself under complete control."
