Extreme heat and snowstorms: how will the weather surprise Americans today
The hottest spot in the country on Tuesday was Anaheim, California, where temperatures rose to hot 103 degrees Fahrenheit (39,4 Celsius). Even Death Valley with its 96 (35,5) degrees was not so hot.
Among yesterday's records in Southern California: in Camarillo the air warmed up to 99 (37) degrees, at San Diego Brown Field Airport - to 97 (36) degrees. In downtown Los Angeles, temperatures did not reach record levels, but at 97 degrees it was still very hot, writes ABC News.
Wednesday will be another hot day in Southern California, with temperatures in the upper 90s (32) degrees and light winds. But in Northern California, near the San Francisco Bay, the winds will be gusty.
From Wednesday to Thursday, a maximum fire hazard warning was issued for most of California, from Riding to the Mexican border.

The strongest winds in Southern California, called the Santa Ana winds, will arrive in the region on Thursday and will last until Friday. They will bring very low humidity and hotter weather to Los Angeles and San Diego.
The National Meteorological Service warns residents of a high fire hazard, which could result in a catastrophe that could compete with the Saddleridge Fire 10-11 in October, and that an extreme warning could be issued on Thursday about the maximum fire hazard in the region.
Meanwhile, winter storm warnings have been issued from Colorado to New Mexico for this evening through Thursday morning, bringing fresh October snow to some areas.
Even Denver will get snow: the region's normal snowfall this season is about 4,2 inches (10 cm), which is the forecast issued for the city tonight.
By Thursday, snow could fall as far away as the Texas Panhandle and throughout the Amarillo area, with up to 1 to 2 inches (2,5 to 5 cm) of precipitation.
