98-year-old veteran in New York City passes 19 km every day to visit his sick wife
The distance does not interfere with 98-year-old Korean War veteran Luther Younger every day to see his paralyzed wife, Waverly, who has been ill with cancer for nine years.
Every day, Younger runs 12 miles (more than 19 kilometers) to visit his spouse at Rochester, New York, says Fox News.
Waverly got brain cancer in 2009.
"I'm nothing without my wife," Younger says, wiping away tears. “All this is difficult and cruel. It’s unbearable for me to see her there in that condition.”
Luteta Younger, the couple's daughter, told Yahoo Lifestlye that her father has been going to the hospital and back every day for a long time to see his wife, who has been married for over 40 for years.
“He doesn't have to do it, but he wants to. I can take him. But he just doesn’t want to wait, he’s too impatient,” says the daughter. “All the times she was sick, he stayed overnight in the hospital. He won't leave her."
“She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. She came, kissed me, called me “baby,” fed me in bed... This is what I need here and now,” Luther Younger says about his wife Waverly.
Luteta has created a page GoFundMewith the help of donations to cover the medical and transport expenses of the family. As of Saturday morning, the campaign has raised over 55 thousand US dollars. The goal is 65 thousand.
