19-year-old soldier killed in terrorist attack in Jerusalem

The attackers reportedly opened fire on border guards at the entrance to the Old Town. The Israeli military fired back, during the firefight, three Palestinians were killed on the spot.

Co-workers Adar Cohen, who were nearby during the terrorist attack, reported that Adar managed to shoot one terrorist who attacked with a knife on her partner.

The condition of the second border girl wounded in the terrorist attack (her name has not yet been named) remains heavy but stable. The third victim was slightly injured.

Adar Cohen joined the Border Police Unit just about two months ago. After taking the oath at the solemn ceremony held last week, she, together with other female soldiers, was sent on duty to the Škhemsky gate.

According to the commander who patrolled the area, three young Arabs, who were sitting on a bench, were suspicious. When approaching the border guards, they began to behave nervously. One of the Arabs, giving them his ID, suddenly jumped off the bench and struck the military with a machine gun on the head.

After the terrorist attack, local Arabs, as reported by the Israeli Channel 9, rioted, throwing stones at the police and medical teams who arrived to assist the victims.

Over the past four months, 28 Israelis have died as a result of terrorist attacks by Palestinians and Israeli Arabs. This period in Israel called the next "wave of terror". During the same time, more than 160 Palestinians were killed in clashes, mostly attacking Israelis.

In mid-January, the Israeli military temporarily closed down Jewish settlements in the West Bank to Palestinian workers. The settlements are considered illegal from the point of view of international law, but Israel disputes this.
