The chief militia officer of Ukraine splashed water in Saakashvili

Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov spoke about the incident with the governor of the Odessa region, Mikhail Saakashvili, which occurred during a meeting of the National Reform Council. According to Avakov, in response to the accusations of corruption by Saakashvili, he splashed water on his face.

“The Odessa governor went into hysterics and started yelling at me: “No one has the right to talk to Mikheil Saakashvili like that. You are a corrupt minister, and I am an honest man,” and then proceeded to direct insults. I refrained from hitting him - I splashed water in his face,” Avakov wrote on his Facebook page.

In addition, according to eyewitnesses, including MP from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Sergei Leshchenko, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs suggested that the ex-president of Georgia “get out of the country.” Later, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk made the same appeal to Saakashvili.

Mikhail Saakashvili, in turn, complained about the behavior of both ministers, urging them to answer for their words and actions.

“I categorically demand from the press service of the Adm.The President's instructions to release the full video recording of the undignified and provocative behavior of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs at today's reform meeting. The video was recorded from three cameras, and the Ukrainian people have every right to see and know who controls them,” said Saakashvili on Facebook.

The incident, according to Avakov, began with the fact that he asked Saakashvili why the governor communicated with a certain “Russian oligarch” from the Uralchem ​​company on the issue of privatization of the Odessa Port Plant (OPZ). According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the plant should be sold to a “Western company with a name.”

In November, Saakashvili, who had previously received Ukrainian citizenship, spoke about abuses at the IPF. In addition, he stated that the entourage of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk was involved in the embezzlement of public funds.

Odessa Port Plant is considered one of the largest chemical enterprises in Ukraine. Initially, the government announced the sale of HMOs in 2005, but over the following years privatization was postponed every time.

The incident involving Avakova and Saakashvili occurred a few days after the next fight in the Verkhovna Rada. It began when a deputy from Blok Petro Poroshenko tried bring the head of the government from the podium Arseny Yatsenyuk.
