When deciding which city to take root in, people consider many factors, such as climate, politics, closeness to relatives, affordable housing, well-paid jobs, low cost of living, good schools and health care. US News & World Report has compiled a ranking of the best places to live in the United States for 2018, writes Business Insider.

Researchers estimated cities by five indices - labor market, cost, quality of life, level of migration. The “Value” assessment includes the correlation between annual income and the cost of living, and the “quality of life” takes into account the crime rate and readiness for learning.

1. Austin, TX

Population: 1 942 615 people

Average annual salary: $ 50 830

Quality of life: 7.1

Value Index: 7.1

2. Colorado Springs, Colorado
