Top-10 richest US cities

Edition Bloomberg published its traditional annual ranking of the hundred richest cities in the United States.

The leading positions in it are traditionally occupied by the city of Silicon Valley and the state of New York.

First place went to the town of Atherton, California, which is located near Palo Alto, Stanford University and Menlo Park, where the main office is located Facebook and other technological giants. The average family income in Atherton at the end of 2016 was $ 443 403.

In order for the city to get into the top 100 of the richest in 2016, the average family income in it must be at least $ 198 423, which is 15% more than in 2015, when the average income from $ 190 was required 000.

The top ten richest cities in the United States include:

• Atherton, California, average family income for 2016 year $ 443 403;
• Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, $ 390 224;
• Scarsdale, NY, $ 387 558;
• Los Altos Hills, Calif., $ 373 848;
• Short Hills, NJ, $ 354 479;
• Hillsboro, CA $ 350 917;
• Old Greenwich, CT, $ 334 911;
• Bronxville, NY, $ 334 848;
• Highland Park, TX $ 330 703;
• Darien, Connecticut, $ 327 901.

In the bottom five of the list were:

• Princeton, NJ, average family income for 2016 year $ 200 430;
• Clarendon Hills, Illinois, $ 199 325;
• South Kensington, MD, $ 199 260;
• Westfield, NJ $ 198 582;
• Highland Park, IL, $ 198 423.

In total, 100 cities in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut are in the top 36; 21 is a city in California (most of them in the San Francisco Bay area).

Among other states, which included at least five cities in the list of the hundred richest, were Texas, Maryland and Illinois.
