California resident impersonated a social worker to steal a two-week baby

According to the authorities, a woman from California was posing as a social worker, trying to kidnap a two-week baby. She was arrested in the evening of the same day, when she almost stole someone else's baby.

A woman appeared at a house in Santa Ana, south of Los Angeles, on June 7 afternoon, told the baby's mother that she came from the US social service and tried to take the child away, writes Fox News. The suspect admitted: she was aware that there was a two-week baby in this house.

The suspect did not present any documents and refused the mother’s request to go with the child - she stated that there was no space in the car.

Mother refused to give the child. At this point, the woman said she would return with the sheriff’s deputies and forcibly take the newborn away.

“If the sheriff has to come, that’s fine. But I don’t want to give you my child,” the mother replied, in her own words.

She took the suspect and her car on the camera of her phone when she left the house and by the evening the woman was arrested.

The suspect, who does not work anywhere, admitted that she went into the house, but claimed that she did not come there to abduct the child. Now she will be questioned by the murder investigation detectives, authorities said.

“How did this woman know that the victim gave birth to a child less than two years ago? How did you find out where she lives? Santa Ana Police Department Officer Anthony Bertagna asked. How did she get such personal information? This all scares us."

It is unclear whether the suspect was charged.

Police say that if social services do warn you that they will come home to pick up the child, law enforcement officials will be present.
