Ukrainian from California died during a romantic holiday in Mexico

27-year-old Tatyana Mirutenko from California was killed by a stray bullet while traveling to Mexico, where she went with her husband James Hoover to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. A woman left a restaurant in Lomas de Chapultepec after dinner with her husband and was shot in the head. The wound turned out to be fatal.

The shooters were on motorcycles and were waiting for a bouncer outside a nearby bar, Mexican authorities said. The deceased was traveling with her husband and three other couples, they planned to have a good time and visit as many Michelin-starred restaurants as possible, writes New York Post. The couple had to return home the day after Tatyana died.

“A year ago we were choosing flowers for her wedding,” said the inconsolable father. “And today we are choosing flowers for the funeral.”

The mother of the deceased said that her daughter had called and told how beautiful and safe it was to rest in Mexico. Tatiana worked as a senior analyst at Nektar Therapeutics and played for the first division of the Clemson University Volleyball Team. Relatives called her a bright and enthusiastic person.

Tatiana's body will arrive in Chicago, where her parents live, on Wednesday, with a funeral scheduled for Saturday. Two days before departure, she posted a photo of a wedding kiss with her husband on her Instagram. The girl captioned the photo: “Year 1,” accompanying the text with emoticons.

Tatyana, who lives with her husband in San Francisco, was originally from Ukraine. The Ukrainian artist Daniel Green expressed his condolences on Facebook.
