The Uber taxi taxi mobile app offers Manhattan residents a discount price of $ 5 for rides during peak hours.

Reportedly, the service will be available from 7 to 10 in the morning and from 5 to 8 in the evening as part of the UberPool service, in which passengers may be in a car with other fellow travelers.

For now, the test service can only be used in one area of ​​New York - Manhattan (below 110th Street), but in the future, perhaps its distribution will be expanded.

Obviously, this is a big plus for people who are not against a trip with one or two strangers.

However, there is one not very convenient factor: passengers in some cases will need to walk several blocks to the place where the driver will pick them up. As noted, we are talking about a bus stop, but it will be a virtual Uber stop.

In addition, at the end of the trip, the driver can also drop you off right outside the house or office, but on the road.

According to Uber, this is done in order to increase operational efficiency, since picking up and disembarking passengers, for example, on a street corner will save time - both yours and the driver's.

Passengers are asked to leave their comments about the new service through a mobile application in order to assess its quality.

Last month, the company reported that about 100 New Yorkers used UberPool each week, double the number from six months ago.
