Shooting at the California Garlic Festival: 4 dead, more than 10 injured. VIDEO

The annual garlic festival in Gilroe, California, was shot, killing four people, including the shooter himself and an 6-year-old child. Gunshot injured no less than 11 people.

The shooter was discovered by the police and killed shortly after her arrival. The police suspect that he could have an accomplice.

“Our teams were working and trying to track down and identify a possible second suspect,” Gilroy Police Chief Scot Smithee told reporters. According to Smithey, the slain shooter had “some kind of rifle” and he fired at random.

Police received reports of shooting around 17: 41 local time.

Singer Jack Bryn said that he saw a man in a green shirt and a gray scarf around his neck, who shot people with a weapon that looked like a machine gun. Van Breen and other band members hid under the stage. The singer added that he heard someone shouting: "Why are you doing this?". And the answer is: "Because I am very angry."

One witness to the shooting told CNN that when the shooting began, “total chaos” reigned at the festival. “I was walking away from the stage... About two minutes later, I looked back and heard several shots, saw smoke in the air,” Lex De La Herran said.

“At first I thought it was fireworks. People started screaming and running, and I instinctively did the same. It was complete chaos and I was so lucky that I left the stage near where it happened.”

He added that a fragment had hit him in the forehead, but he did not see the shooter himself.

Another witness in a conversation with KPIX-TV stated that he had seen an arrow and heard from 20 to 25 shots.

“He had his whole life ahead of him,” said the boy’s father, Alberto Romero. “He was only six.”

The festival bills itself as "the world's largest summer food festival." Sunday was the final day of the event. It took place in Christmas Hill Park, which is located about 50 kilometers from the city of San Jose.
