Belarusian got two years of imprisonment for nude selfie

The court of the Belarusian city of Baranavichy punished 27-year-old Oleg with two years of imprisonment, who uploaded his own photo to the social networks naked.

The pictures on Oleg’s VKontakte page were discovered by a special unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), which monitors the rule of law on the Internet.

The young man declared cooperation with the investigation and explained to the prosecutor that he had taken a candid shot on his mobile phone and placed it in order to please the girl.

The criminal case, however, includes three more episodes of posting “pornographic materials” on the social network: videos, photos and films that Oleg copied from the pages of other users.

“The punishment was imposed in accordance with Article 343 (Part 2) of the Criminal Code of Belarus for possession for the purpose of advertising, as well as advertising of pornographic materials,” explained Judge Sergei Danilchik.

The judge has had several similar cases in his practice, but usually, Danilchik says, “those who have played pranks on the Internet” show repentance and are punished with a fine.

27-year-old Oleg, however, was already prosecuted under the aforementioned criminal article in 2012.

The verdict passed by the court in Baranavichy on April 22 may be appealed to convicts within 10 days.
