Hillary Clinton is a supporter of a progressive tax scale and increased taxes on the rich. Donald Trump insists that easing the tax burden on the rich will lead to growth of their companies and the creation of new jobs.

“The more we can do for the middle class — for you, your education, your wealth — the better,” Clinton said, recalling that the policy of concentrating wealth among a small percentage of the population in recent American history dates back to Ronald Reagan.

Trump, in turn, talked about concluding new trade agreements and more protectionist domestic economic policies that would prevent the flow of jobs, in particular to China. Trump offered himself as a leader to guarantee the rule of “law and order.”

Hillary Clinton, during the first direct debates with Donald Trump, reproached him for indulging in cyber attacks against US government agencies and companies that she accused the Kremlin.

“Donald speaks very highly of Vladimir Putin […] I was shocked when Donald publicly called on Putin to steal information about US citizens,” quotes Air force Hillary Clinton. “We will protect the people of our country, and the Russians must understand this,” she added.

Trump, in turn, said that it was not Russia, but China or another country that could have been behind the cyberattacks, and reproached the current American administration for losing the information war against extremists. Both debaters mentioned scandalous episodes in the opponent’s biography. So, Hillary Clinton accused Donald Trump of not making his tax returns public, to which Trump promised to do this when Clinton publishes all his emails dating back to the time when she headed the US Department of State.

As observers noted, Trump failed to fully play up the theme of Clinton's letters. The former Secretary of State admitted that she made a mistake by not allowing Trump to develop this topic. “I made a mistake. […] I accept responsibility for this,” she said.
