In the United States, a Ukrainian marine was operated on, who became a symbol of resistance in Mariupol

Marine Mikhail Dianov successfully operated on his right shoulder on December 13 in St. Louis, USA. He was shot in March while defending Mariupol, reports Hromadske.

“After rehabilitation, Mikhail’s right hand will fully function. In the coming days, Dianov will return to Ukraine,” the Shakhtar football club said in a Facebook post.

Shakhtar noted that it organized and covered all the expenses for the treatment of the soldier in the United States.

Ukrainian troops in Mariupol held the defense at the Azovstal metallurgical plant, where there were about a thousand military personnel and civilians. The Russian army daily bombed and tried to storm this territory. The defender of Azovstal, a fighter of the 36th Marine Brigade Mikhail Dianov, participated in the defense of Mariupol and became one of its symbols, a symbol of resistance, thanks to photographs by photographer Dmitry Kazatsky (Orest), reports Vikna.

On April 14, Mikhail's family learned that he was at Azovstal with a bullet wound in both legs and a crushed bone in his right hand. Thousands of Ukrainians worried about the fate of Mikhail when they saw him in a photograph with an external fixation device on his arm.

At the end of May, the defenders of Azovstal were ordered to stop the defense of the city in order to save the lives of military personnel.

Then everyone left the steel giant and fell into Russian captivity. From then until September 21, nothing was known about the fate of Ukrainian heroes.
During this time, Dianov's wounded arm did not heal, it lacked 4 centimeters of bone. The military needs to be restored.

After his release from captivity, millions of people wanted to help the warrior with treatment. Dianov decided to give all donations - $622 - to his brothers for treatment. He received these funds as donations from caring people. Businessman Rinat Akhmetov and the Shakhtar football club decided to help Dianov with treatment.

“I know that I was luckier than many guys. They recognize me, so many people responded to help me. And now I have a chance to get my healthy hand back. I dream that I can also help other guys, ”wrote the defender.

Mikhail is confident that he will be able to play musical instruments again. In civilian life, he was a musician, in Ternopil he had his own group and was more fond of playing the bass guitar. Mikhail dreams of fishing and opening his own metal workshop.
